Gary Hover Re-Elected as CPRS Representative!

GaGaryHoverfinalry Hover, Verde Design’s Business Development & Parks Specialist, was recently re-elected to a two-year term as Region 2 Representative for the California Parks and Recreation Society (CPRS), Park Development and Operations Section Board of Directors.

CPRS is a nonprofit, professional and public interest organization with close to 4,000 members seeking to advance the park and recreation profession through education, networking, resources, and advocacy. Region 2 covers CPRS Districts 4, 5, and 6, which includes 12 counties from San Francisco, south to Monterey County, and east to Tuolumne County. As Region 2 Representative, Gary will contribute his knowledge and parks expertise to support the organization’s growth goals and promote activism within the parks community.

Gary has been a member of the CPRS society since 1997, when he served as Superintendent of Parks and Facilities for the City of Redwood City. He was asked to join the rebuilding effort of the Development and Operations (D&O) as a ‘Member at Large,’ from 2007 to 2010. Gary rejoined the D&O Board in 2012, when he was elected as the Region 2 Board Representative, and has served since. The D&O Board facilitates the day-long Parks Symposium, which provides hands-on training opportunities for field maintenance staff and management involved in the development, construction, and maintenance of community recreational facilities.

Verde Design Welcomes Courtney Rousseau to the Team

GW_170601_0087-Rousseau_master_RESIZEDIn order to expand Verde Design’s civil engineering capacity, Courtney Rousseau, PE, was recently hired as a project manager for the firm.

Rousseau received her Bachelor of Civil Engineering from Western Michigan University, and brings nation-wide experience in project management, sports engineering, and public/private development to the team. She utilizes her experience as a former NCAA D1 athlete, and her technical design skills, to produce innovative solutions to unique project issues.

Courtney’s work includes several projects with professional sports associations, including the Baltimore Ravens Field Renovation Project for the NFL, and the Washington Nationals/Houston Astros Ballpark of the Palm Beaches practice facility for MLB.

John Courtney Joins Verde Design!

John Headshot Enhancing Verde Design’s service offerings to its clients, noted landscape architect and industry veteran John Courtney, RLA, LEED AP, has recently joined the firm as a Senior Project Manager.

John Courtney brings more than two decades of parks and recreational project experience to the team, and will focus on collaborating with Verde’s Folsom staff while growing the firm’s portfolio. A resident of Sacramento, Calif., Courtney has contributed to the development of numerous community, neighborhood, and regional parks and recreation projects, including Woodland Sports Park, Folsom’s Lembi Aquatic Center, and El Dorado Hills Community Skate Park.

His project leadership and successful track record with clients has resulted in several awards, including the California Parks and Recreation Society (CPRS) District 2 Regional Treasure Award for Folsom Zoo Sanctuary, and CPRS Juried Design Awards for Cameron Park Community Center and Woodland Sports Park. Currently, John serves as president for CPRS District 2, and previously served two terms as vice president of communications.

Additionally, John is a member of the American Society of Landscape Architects, and is serving as board secretary for the board of directors of the Sacramento Parks Foundation. John received his Bachelor of Landscape Architecture from Louisiana State University, is a LEED accredited professional (BD+C), and is certified as a State of California Qualified Stormwater Developer and Practitioner (QSD/QSP).

Verde Design Expands Senior Management Team with Mike Hiddleson, PE

Hiddleson Offering nearly 30 years of experience in the A/E/C industry and with an extensive portfolio of award-winning projects, Mike Hiddleson, PE, has recently joined Verde Design to serve as a senior project manager.

Beginning today, Hiddleson will integrate with Verde Design’s senior management team, engage with production staff to strengthen its current offerings, and collaborate with the business development team to expand the firm’s client and partner base.

Hiddleson began his career in 1987 and brings wide-ranging experience to Verde Design. He previously served as a senior project manager for Kitchell Construction Managers and, more recently, as a project manager for McLarney Construction. While working with Kitchell, Hiddleson served as San Jose Unified School District’s program manager for the bond program director (from 2004 to 2012). In addition, he brings K-12 project expertise to the Verde team. Hiddleson has managed numerous projects for public school districts located in the South Bay, including the Cupertino, Milpitas and San Jose Unified School Districts, and the East Side Union and Fremont Union High School Districts. Other notable clients include Peralta Community College District, City of Merced, Santana Row, Mission Towers, and the Airport Gateway Office Complex.

A graduate of University of California, Davis with a Bachelor of Science degree in Aeronautical and Mechanical Engineering, Hiddleson lives in Aptos with his family and spends his free time fly-fishing and coaching competitive youth soccer.

2017 CSADA Conference

2017 CASBO Conference

CASBO Last week, Verde Design attended the 2017 California School Business Expo at CASBO’s Annual Conference in Long Beach, California. This expo was the largest trade show of its kind in the state, with over 250 exhibitors meeting the largest single gathering of California school business officials. Two of our principals, Derek McKee and Mark Baginski were in attendance to meet with clients and learn about new trends. Learn more about CASBO here.

Tiffany Rayhbuck Joins Verde’s Marketing and Business Development Group

TiffanyR Verde Design, Inc. has hired Tiffany Rayhbuck as its Marketing Manager. Joining the team this past winter, Rayhbuck will focus on strengthening the firm’s marketing and business development efforts and manage the marketing team. Rayhbuck brings nearly a decade of A/E/C industry experience to Verde Design. A student of journalism and graduate of California Polytechnic University, San Luis Obispo, she will draw upon past experience to increase the firm’s visibility and portfolio.

Tony, a Senior Project Manager with 25+ years of landscape architecture experience, leads projects based out of our Folsom office. He has a strong knowledge of site design, layout, grading, detailing, specifications, master planning, planting design, cost estimating and construction administration.

Brett, also a Senior Project Manager, has over 18 years of experience and has worked on projects throughout California as well as internationally. His mission of showing that public spaces and sustainable design can exist in harmony is expressed through his focus on parks and outdoor recreational spaces.

Chris Sullivan Receives ASBA Distinction

The ASBA Professional’s Certificate of Distinction illustrates Chris’s commitment and dedication to the tennis, track, fields and indoor facility construction industry through involvement with ASBA and related organizations and the completion of built projects.
