Gary brings more than 10 years of experience as Superintendent of the City of Redwood City Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department, managing municipal recreation facilities for a city of over 77,000. In this position, he supervised the work of over 50 employees and a $7.9 million annual operational budget for 37 parks and 20 buildings. Through Needs Assessment Studies, he assisted the city in identifying potential projects and prepared capital improvement priorities to enable the city to meet those needs. He also implemented an automated irrigation system through a multi-faceted phased 8 year CIP project to reduce water consumption in city park system exceeding 11 million gallons per year from the baseline.

Not only did Gary develop and initiate improvement projects, he facilitated gaining the approval of the projects through meetings and presentations to city staff, neighborhood residents, and community stakeholders. Gary’s insight into the capabilities and constraints of public agencies is an invaluable asset when it comes to planning and designing for municipalities.
