Two School Districts Begin Facility Improvements
When two school projects had groundbreaking ceremonies, members of the Verde Design teams picked up their shovels to help.
This past summer's groundbreaking at Homestead High School in Cupertino represented the beginning of athletic facility improvements to be constructed across all five of the Fremont Union High School District's schools. Funded by Bond Measure B, the work includes renovations and improvements to football, soccer, baseball, softball and multi-use fields, as well as support facilities. To make the best use of the funding, the District has chosen the lease/leaseback delivery method for construction of the new, state-of-the-art athletic complexes. In addition to the athletic facility improvements, the Bond Measure B construction program includes improved classrooms, solar installations, and science and technology education improvements throughout the District.
Stockton Unified School District began work on the first major project of their Measure Q Bond program with the groundbreaking at Stagg High School in August 2009. A major portion of the Measure Q program is renovating athletic facilities at the District's four high schools. This initial project includes development of a new 9-lane all-weather track, a synthetic turf football/soccer field, grandstand seating, sports field lighting, lighted varsity softball field, and restroom and concession buildings.
