LAKE CUNNINGHAM REGIONAL SKATE PARK, SAN JOSÉ
After its opening in April 2008, the Lake Cunningham Regional Skate Park quickly became one of the premier destination skate parks in the world. The 67,000-square-foot skate park is located on a 10-acre site within Lake Cunningham Park in east San José.
Verde Design provided project management as well as landscape architecture and civil engineering design to incorporate the skate park site into the existing park. An entry road to the skate park, parking areas, and placement of the concrete skate bowl was accommodated by detailed grading design.
The creative landscape design included improvements to the existing park elements. To filter out potential pollutants in the water running off the concrete skate park, stormwater drainage was designed using bioswales and BMP practices.
