Graham Middle School Athletic Fields and Reservoir, Mountain View
The Mountain View Whisman School District and the City of Mountain View formed a partnership to meet the City's needs for an additional reservoir and the District's need for new athletic facilities. The City constructed an 8.5 million gallon water tank under the existing school athletic area.
Verde Design assisted the City by designing new facilities for the school's entire athletic area. Our design included new synthetic turf fields and an all-weather track which were constructed directly above the reservoir to limit the possibility of water percolation around the reservoir. We renovated the asphalt play areas for basketball and volleyball use. A new building on the site was designed to accommodate concessions, restrooms, storage and maintenance facilities.

Our project design included natural turf fields for youth softball, discus and soccer fields. The field perimeter improvements included accessible pathways and spectator areas, fencing, and fabric mesh screens to capture errant sports balls. The project took three years to complete and required three separate DSA approval increments.
