Raimondi Park, Oakland
The City of Oakland and Friends of Oakland Parks & Recreation spearheaded the effort to renovate Raimondi Park and restore it to a premier sports park. Verde Design's project team worked with the City and a steering committee of representatives from various public agencies, community organizations, and other stakeholders to develop a program and master plan to meet the goals for the park. When the master plan was approved, Verde Design began developing construction documents.
Our engineers designed new drainage systems for both the synthetic and natural turf fields to address the site's high water table and storm-event flooding. Other features, including sidewalks and streetside landscaping, were designed to be easily adapted to future park improvements.
To accommodate project funding, the park was designed to be constructed in two phases. Phase I construction was completed in September 2008.
